Apparently it’s #endometriosisawarenessmonth so I figured I’d tell you my story and hopefully inspire and empower you to take responsibility for your own health holistically, thus ridding yourself of this horrible dis-ease and then blossoming into the very best version of yourself.

Here goes:
I have suffered with my periods since they started when I was 10.5 years old. I used to be sent home from school, often. My doting Opa would collect me with blankets, a sick bucket, pain killers and a hot water bottle all laid out nicely in the back of his car. Sometimes he’d have to help me up the stairs when we got home. I’d lay on the sofa watching crap day time TV wondering what I had done to deserve this, was I going to die and why the GP kept telling me it was just “women’s issues” and “nothing to worry about because it’s normal”. No one else in my family seemed to suffer like this. One internal examination result was told to me with such glee because there was nothing wrong with my “uterus, in fact if anything, it’s very roomy in there, great for babies to grow in!”. I was17!

Eventually in my early 20s I was put on The Pill which seemed to help with the pain, flow, sensations, bowel movements etc. However I gained weight and my emotions were all over the place.

So in my 30s I was put on other varieties and forms of The Pill. Again my weight yo yo’d, my symptoms lessened but inherently I knew this wasn’t something I wanted to be on forever as I wanted to conceive. I wanted to look into my child’s eyes and see all my ancestors looking back at me.

As a 40th birthday present to myself I came off The Pill. 3 years later I still wasn’t pregnant and the symptoms came back with a vengeance. The pain was so severe I thought I was going to die. My breathing would be erratic. Hot and cold sweats. Clots and clumps falling out of me were like Liver. And then there was the fainting, that freaked me out the most because it would come on with no warning. Thankfully it never happened when I was driving.

It was a heart heavy afternoon listening to everyone’s stories but also heart warming to be in a room full of people that just “got it”. I felt seen, heard & validated, finally! My Endo journey was a lonely one. Thanks to you & the foundation, no one has to go it alone anymore.

I’m truly honoured to be part of the campaign, to have my story seen & heard along with the other ladies’. I hope that I can be the inspiration to others that I was looking for. I’m so glad that I took matters into my own hands & no longer suffer, thanks to natural medicines & therapies. Let’s continue to “push the pain into power”, keep raising awareness, keep campaigning, keep pushing boundaries, keep supporting each other & overcome all the barriers 💛

The day I played a Jewish Minister for @jle_uk

When I re-entered the modelling world after a 30 year hiatus, I didn’t expect to be welcomed & celebrated for my “differences”: my grey hair, crooked & gappy teeth, freckles, curves, wrinkles, being short & unidentifiable look - decades ago I wasn’t white enough, brown enough, oriental enough etc.

Constantly being told that you’re not enough of whatever it is someone thinks you should be, to fit into THEIR box, is a heavy weight to be unnecessarily burdened with. It pushes you to strive to fit in & be accepted which is exhausting & soul destroying, at times. The hard lesson to learn was to say: “fcuk it, my “differences” ARE worthy”, shrug off others’ opinions & love & accept myself for all that I am.

That healing work paid off & I am grateful, honoured & blessed to be working with female led teams like @glossemlondon who celebrate women for who they are, their light within, not just “pretty faces”.
